A native of Franklin, he was a son of Frederick Owen Forbes of Lakeland, Fla., and the late Mrs. Theodosia Darden Forbes of Franklin, He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, the Men’s Bruner Class, the Knights of Pythias and the American Legion, and was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lillian Bunn Forbes; four brothers, Edward Paul Forbes and Andrew Lee Forbes of Norfolk, Frederick Benjamin Forbes of Stoney Creek and MacDonald Forbes of New York City; a sister, Mrs. S.W. Lee of Holland; and an aunt, Mrs. Eva Hines of Norfolk. A funeral service was conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin Baptist Church. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
