Forbes was conducted Monday at 4 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home, Franklin by the Rev. Carl Lee Ousley. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jamie Forbes, Harvey Councill, Robert Eubank, Gordon Twyne, John Henry Bower, James Hope. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the Holland Baptist Church. Forbes, 96, retired farmer and lumberman, died Saturday night in his home. A native of Bertie County, N.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Mildred Morgan Forbes and a son of Tullie and Mrs. Martha Darden Forbes. He was member of Holland Baptist Church. Besides his widow, survivors include four sons, Edward Paul Forbes and Andrew Lee Forbes of Norfolk, Fred B. Forbes of Stony Creek and Mack Forbes of New York; and a daughter, Mrs. S. Womack Lee of Holland, seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
