A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Samuel and Mrs. Martha Bryant Ferguson. He was the husband of Pecolia Worrell Ferguson. He was a retired farmer and the oldest member of Newsoms Baptist Church. Besides his wife he is surviving by a daughter, Mrs. Doris F. White of Norfolk; a son, Samuel U. Ferguson of King and Queen Court House; a sister, Mrs. Mina F. Miles of Newsoms; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in his home with the Rev. C. Allen Lawrence of Newsoms Baptist Church. Burial was in the family cemetery. McDowell Funeral Home of Boykins was in charge. Pallbearers were Mr. Willie B. Ivey, Bennie Bunn, Leslie Bryant, E. Beale Carter Sr., W.R. Emmons, David Sykes, Willie Pope, P.T. Edwards, W.T. O’berry Jr., and Ryland Fowler.
