All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HATTIE MAE REESE FERGUSON Mrs. Hattie Mae Reese Ferguson, 69, of the Newsoms community, died Saturday night, January 28, at her home near Newsoms after a short illness. Mrs. Ferguson was the daughter of the late Robert Thomas and Sarah Jane Reese of Prince George County. A member of the Newsoms Baptist Church, she was the widow of Emmett P. Ferguson. Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. Gordon Walters of Richmond, Mrs. Ada Ferguson Read of Portsmouth, and Miss Marjorie Ferguson of Norfolk; three sons, Rev. Emmett Reeves Ferguson of Madison, Russell Ferguson of Newsoms, and Edwin Thomas Ferguson of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. L.F. Baird of Petersburg. Funeral rites were conducted at three o’clock Monday afternoon at the Newsoms Baptist Church, with Rev. R.L. Chadwick and Rev. C.P. Cleveland officiating. Burial was in the Newsoms Cemetery, the active pallbearers being Aaron Bradshaw, Hersey Bradshaw, Carl Bradshaw, Roy Bradshaw, Herman Bradshaw, Quinton Ferguson, Sam Ferguson and Gordon Baird, all nephews of the deceased.
