All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ROBERT FRANKLIN FERGUSON NEWSOMS - Robert Franklin Ferguson, 62, a retired farmer, died early Saturday morning in Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Mrs. Virginia Fuller Ferguson and the son of Richard and Mrs. Alice Kitchen Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson was a lifelong resident of the Newsoms community. He was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church. Surviving him besides his widow are three daughters, Mrs. Annie Maude Vick of Newsoms, Mrs. Mary Pope of Emporia and Mrs. Barbara Thorpe of Germany, four sons, Algie R. Ferguson of Woodstock, Va., Gilbert W. Ferguson of Emporia, Joseph and Patrick Ferguson of Newsoms. Seven sisters, Mrs. Elsie Ferguson and Mrs. Lula Moore of Portsmouth, Mrs. Ronie Holland and Mrs. Pauline Holland of Holland, Miss Ethel Ferguson of Williamsburg, Mrs. Louise Fuller of Courtland and Mrs. Geneva Thorpe of Newsoms, two brothers, Hugh Ferguson of Newsoms and Tizel Ferguson of Littleton, Va. and sixteen grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by Rev. Ben B. Ussery. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. Pallbearers were Fred Worrell, Earl Worrell, Carl Thorpe, J.C. Blowe, Earl Cyrus and Marvin Cook.
