Ferguson, 84, a farmer of the Newsoms community, died Saturday afternoon after a week’s illness. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Kitchen Ferguson; seven daughters, Mrs. Kelly Holland and Mrs. Gus Holland of Holland, Mrs. L.K. Moore and Mrs. Floyd Ferguson of Portsmouth, Mrs. Floyd Ferguson of Portsmouth, Mrs. James Fuller of Courtland, and Mrs. C.C. Thorpe and Miss Ethel Mae Ferguson of Newsoms; five sons, Hugh L., Robert, and James Ferguson of Newsoms, Howard Ferguson of Windsor, and Tizie Ferguson of Capron; and twenty-five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at three o’clock at the graveside in Newsoms Cemetery, with the Rev. W.C. Hughes, pastor of the Newsoms Baptist Church, officiating. Active pallbearers were John Wesley Drake, Julian Carter, E. Beale Carter, James T. Story, Earnest Coggsdale, J.Q. Worrell, Lloyd Taylor, and Lee Coggsdale. Richard F.
