FORREST ALEXANDRIA - A military funeral service for Sgt. William G. Forrest was conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Fort Myers Chapel, Fort Myers. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Forrest, 43, died suddenly Saturday night while visiting in the home of his sister, Mrs. William E. Jones, Sedley. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Illse Von Hollen Forrest and the son of Edward D. and Mrs. Willie Godwin Forrest, Sedley. Sgt. Forrest served 22 years in the U.S. Army in Germany, France, Alaska, Korea, Viet Nam and Korea. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Miss Ramona Forrest and a son, William G. Forrest Jr., Alexandria; two sisters, Mrs. William E. Jones, Sedley and Mrs. George Cleeverius Jr., Yorktown; 5 brothers, John E. Forrest and Garland H. Forrest, Alexandria, Edward D. Forrest Jr. U.S.N. (retired) Chesapeake, Kenneth M. Forrest, Franklin and Roy H. Forrest, Sault Ste Marie, Mich. SGT William G. FORREST, 22-year U.S. Army veteran, Southampton Co. native, d. 13 Jun 1970, Sedley, age 43, interred in Arlington National Cemetery, 18 Jun 1970, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), June 25, 1970 His parents are buried in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley.
