He was a former post-master, merchant and farmer. He was a member of the Newsoms Lodge No. 128, and Boykins Lodge No. 287 of the Masonic Order, and was a member of Clarksbury Methodist Church. He was a son of the late Albert Lavesco and Annie Harrell Francis of Southampton County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances Sears Francis; three daughters, Mrs. Deaton F. Faucette, Boykins; Mrs. Katherine F. Draper [...*] Richmond, and Gilbert W. Francis of Boykins; nine grandchildren; two brothers, E.C. Francis, Branchville, and A.W. Francis of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Morley and Mrs. Pearl Thorpe both of Miami, Fla. and Mrs. Olive Scott of Newport News. Funeral services were held at the residence in Boykins at 3 o’clock Wednesday, with the Rev. M.W. Anderson, pastor of Clarksbury Methodist Church officiating, assisted by the Rev. N.B. Habel, pastor Boykins Baptist Church. Masonic graveside services were conducted at Beechwood Cemetery at Boykins. Pallbearers were R.H. Powell, Jr., Turner S. Lassiter, Joe Wilson Felts, W.W. White, Jr., Dr. J.J. Grizzard, Pat Griffin, R.E. Ricks, Sr., Richard L. Baney, R. Spier Edwards, W. Wilson Barnes, and R.E. Kirkland, Jr. The Men’s Bible Class of Clarksbury Methodist Church were honorary pallbearers. There is a line running through the print at the top and middle of many of the papers and it effected many of the obits. I've put elipses for the part that's missing.
