All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOSHUA ARNOLD FRANCIS Joshua Arnold Francis, 71, lifelong resident of Southampton County and prominent farmer of the Capron community died Sunday afternoon, March 7, at Raiford Memorial Hospital after suffering an illness of many weeks. Mr. Francis was the husband of Mrs. Dora Irene Vick Francis of Capron, who survives him, and a member of Boykins Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Joseph and Missouri Sanafar Francis of Southampton County. Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, Vernie W. Francis, Moncure Francis, and Herbert W. Francis of Capron, and L.T. Francis of Courtland; five daughters, Mrs. Margaret Francis Drake of Hopewell, Mrs. H.V. Draper and Mrs. Garland Vaughan of Suffolk, Mrs. D.F. Withers of Haynesville, and Mrs. Elsie Francis Pope of Portsmouth; twenty-two grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Lula Whitley of Portsmouth. The body was taken to the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland and Sons in Franklin and on Tuesday morning was taken to [...*] Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The Rev. N.B. Habel, the Rev. J.T. Cassell and the Rev. Frank B. Handley officiated. Pallbearers were Bill Draper, Linwood Pope, Reese Withers, Milton Vick, Lona Francis, Bryant Harrell, Aubrey Lee and Harry Vick.
