WHITFIELD FRANCIS Mrs. Laura Whitfield Francis, wife of John W. Francis, and daughter of the Thomas Whitfield of Suffolk, died at her home at Handsom Saturday, February 8, after a two weeks’ illness, age the age of 59. Mrs. Francis was born and reared near Handsom and had spent her entire life in Southampton, giving much of her life to the rearing of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Jack Francis; three daughters, Mrs. T.V. Bailey and Miss Mary Francis of Handsom and Mrs. W.G. Glover of Holland and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from Mt. Horeb Church, of which she was a member of many years, Sunday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. J.K. Holman, Several hymns were sung by the church choir and interment was made in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were J.O. Tharrington, W.E Beale, S.J. Gilliam T.V. Bailey, W.G. Glover and G.C. Hand, Jr. The sympathy of the community goes out to the family in this hour of trial, several of whom are sick, Mr. Francis being ill at the time of his wife’s death. [Laura L.
