MAYES FRANCIS BOYKINS - Services for Mrs. Margery Mayes Francis, 82, were conducted Saturday at McDowell Funeral Home by Rev. William Hudson. Pallbearers were Raymond F. Williams, David R. Francis, William S. Francis, Jr., William H. Wadlin, L. Michael Vaughan and Wayne F. Bak. Mrs. Francis died Wednesday night at a Newport News hospital. A native of Southampton County, she was the widow of David Raymond Francis. She was a retired Rural Mail Carrier carrying the Branchville route 29 years. She was a member of the Boykins United Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. SeNora Williams of Hopewell, Mrs. Marion Griffin of Smithfield, and Mrs. Margery Floyd of Yukon, Oklahoma; one son, William S. Francis of Hampton; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Riddick of Fountain, N.C., Mrs. Mary Alice Stanley, Miami Fla.; and Mrs. Va. Mangus of Riverside, Calif; four brothers Herbert S. Mayes of Philadelphia, J.P. Mayes, Arlington; R.A. Mayes, Hopewell; and J.W. Mayes, Hampton; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Margery M. (MAYES; Mrs. David R.) She was the informant for her husband's Va. Death Certificate (#1937-11263), which gives Marjory. Her parents are buried in Blandford Cemetery (Ward GG), Petersburg. (Find A Grave Mem. #29594196) The family appears in the 1910 Census in Emporia, Belfield Dist. (#36), Greensville Co. Margery was the oldest of 12 children (of 14) surviving, and was a public school teacher.
