Mr. Francis was apparently well the day before, but had been in failing health since his discharge from the American Army at the end of the World War. He had spent much of his time in hospitals and sanatoria trying to regain health during the past several years, but had for three years up to the time of his death lived at Handsom with his wife and mother. Mr. Francis was 40 years old and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kathleen Staley Francis; his mother, Mrs. Camden Francis; two sisters, Mrs. George Drake of Franklin and Mrs. Alonzo Whitley of Handsom, and three half-brothers; John Francis of Handsom and Jeff and Josh Francis of Capron. A devoted husband, a dutiful son and brother, and an obliging neighbor, Mr. Francis will be greatly missed. The body was taken on the following day to the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland and Son in Franklin, where a short service was conducted in the chapel by the Rev. Roscoe Jones. Interment was made in Roanoke, where military honors were accorded the departed World War veteran by the American Legion. The casket, covered with beautiful floral tributes, was draped with an American flag.
