H.D. Stephenson, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church. Mrs. Seith Akinson and Mrs. F.E. Howell sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Lord I'm Coming Home." The pall was of pink gladioli and white asters. Pallbearers were J.E. Weede, Joseph Johnson, Bailey Maddrey, J.E. Beale, J.A. Briggs. J.K. Boyette, H.G. Wellons and W.H. Jones. Burial was in Poplar Springs Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** JAMES ALLEN GAY James A. Gay, 69, died at his home in Walnut Street Thursday afternoon, August 8, after a long illness. He is survived by two brothers, Albert Gay of Norfolk and Edwards Gay of Petersburg, besides several nephews. Funeral services were conducted from his late residence last Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock, with services by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, burial following in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
