JOSEPH PATRICK GAY

   Joseph Patrick Gay, 63, son of the late Josiah Powell and Emma Lee Gay, 
died suddenly of a heart attack Monday morning in Baltimore, Maryland.

   Surviving his are a sister, Mrs. James Fenton Bryant, Jr., of Franklin and 
one nephew, Josiah Gay Bryant of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.

   Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in Poplar 
Spring Cemetery with the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, pastor of the Franklin Baptist 
Church, officiating.

   Active pallbearers were Cecil C. Vaughan, III, Richard A. Jones, Thomas D. 
Boone, John M. Camp, Joe Bynum Gay, Jr., Everett R. Bryant, Jr., Franklin 
Edwards and G.E. Pillow.
