LOIS HARTMAN GAY

   FRANKLIN - Lois Hartman Gay, 84, of the 300 block of Clay St., died 
April 2, in a hospital.

   Mrs. Gay, a Salisbury, N.C., native, was a member of the Franklin 
Congregational Christian Church; Franklin Shade Tree Commission; 
Southampton Garden Club; Southampton Memorial Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary; 
and Southampton Historical Society.  She had attended Elon College and was 
the widow of Joe B. Gay Jr.

   Survivors include a son, Joe B. Gay III of Franklin; four sisters, 
Mildred H. Overcash, Bernice H. McLeod and Rachel H. Demans, all of 
Charlotte, N.C. and Adleta H. White of Dallas; two brothers, Jack J. 
Hartman and William E. Hartman of Charlotte; and two grandchildren.

   A graveside service was conducted Monday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by 
Revs.  Richard Diekman and Ben R. Duffey.  Wright Funeral Home handled 
the arrangements.

   Memorial donations may be made to East Pavilion at the hospital.
