Gibson died at his home here Wednesday, November 12, 1913 in his fifty-ninth year, after a severe and lingering illness of several months. He was a native of Culpepper County, Virginia, but had been a resident of Franklin for about nineteen years and had many friends here. He was an honest and upright citizen, a member of the Franklin Baptist church and of the local lodge Knights of Pythias. A kind and indulgent husband and father, he leaves to mourn their loss his widow, who was Miss Lina Hart of this county, a son, Hart Gibson of Norfolk and a daughter, Mrs. W.L. Harrell of Charleston, S.C. His mother, Mrs. J.T.S. Gibson of Indianapolis survives him and one sister, Mrs. D.B. Shanhan of Covington, Ky. The funeral services will be conducted this afternoon (Friday) from the Baptist church at 3 o’clock by Rev. J.L. McCutcheon, pastor of the deceased. The interment will be made in Poplar Spring cemetery where Franklin Lodge No. 51 Knights of Pythias, who will assemble in a body, will perform the solemn and impressive burial rites of their order.
