Hudgins and Jeremy Galloway. Wright Funeral Home was in charge. Gayle died Sunday in a hospital. A native of West Point, he was the husband of Lena Moore Gayle. He was a retired maintenance carpentry foreman with 30 years of service with Union Camp Corp. and was a member of High Street United Methodist Church. Other survivors include three daughters, Dorothy G. McDonald of Hertford, N.C., Mildred G. Whitefield of Suffolk and Catherine G. Lanier of Nashville, N.C.; a son, Russell S. Gayle Jr. of Franklin; a sister, Ruby G. Klein of Baltimore; two brothers, H.B. Gayle and J. Delmas Gayle of West Point; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
