REBE COUNCILL GILLS

   Mrs. Rebe Councill Gills, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Judson C. Councill of our 
town, died at her home in Bedford, Va., Sunday after a long illness. Mr. and 
Mrs. Councill were with her in Bedford, and besides her husband and parents, she 
is survived by one son, O.W. Gills, Jr. 13 years of age; a brother, J. Godwin 
Councill of Staunton; three aunts Mrs. J.R. Knight and Mrs. Sallie Wills Cobb of 
Franklin and Mrs. E.Y. Robertson of Virginia Beach; two uncles James W. Wills of 
Baltimore and Dr. Irvin H. Wills of Norfolk and a large family connection.

   Funeral rites were held from the residence in Bedford Tuesday, conducted by 
the local pastors and by Dr. Geo. H. Spooner, a former Franklin pastor, who now 
lives in Bedford and is an intimate friend of the family. There were many 
handsome floral tributes and burial was made in the Bedford Cemetery.

   Among out-of-town relatives and friends who were in Bedford for the funeral 
were Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Councill and Mrs. J.R. Knight of Franklin.
