GILLETTE DIES TODAY AT AGE OF 58 H.A. Gillette died this (Friday) morning at his home in Courtland shortly after midnight, following a protracted illness of cancer of the throat. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Mary Fox Gillette; a son, B.A. Gillette; a son, B.A. Gillette, of Lawrenceville; two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd King of Rescue and Miss Rebecca Gillette, a student at Farmville State Teachers College; a brother, W.H. Gillette of Richmond; three sisters, Mrs. D.D. Barham, Mrs. R.L. Felts and Mrs. L.N. Felts, all of Capron. Mr. Gillette was 58 years of age, and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William John Gillette of the Capron community. Mr. Gillette had been Southampton County sanitation officer and deputy sheriff and had a wide acquaintance. Funeral services will be conducted from the home tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon at 3 o’clock, by Rev. A.W. Roten of the Courtland M.E. Church, pastor of the deceased, burial to be made in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Members of the Masonic order, with which Mr. Gillette was prominently affiliated will participate in the burial rites at the grave. The active pallbearers will be: Geo. B. Vick, L.W. McGrath, Jas. T. Gillette, J.W. Rollison, W.J. Story, Dr. P.P. Causey, Dr. J.N. Applewhite and L.M. Marks. ****************************************************************************** HUGH AUGUSTUS GILLETTE Funeral services were conducted for H.A Gillette, who died last Friday, from his home in Courtland Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock by his Pastor, Rev. A.W. Roten, of the Methodist Church, assisted by a former Pastor, Rev. H.F. Turner of Alberta, and Rev. H.B. Owen of Benns Church. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery with the Masonic order participating. The casket was covered with a pall of white roses and fern, there being numerous other floral tributes of love and esteem. Active pallbearers were: Geo. B. Vick, L.W. McGrath, Jas. T. Gillette, J.W. Rollison, W.J. Story, Dr. P.P. Causey, Dr. J.N. Applewhite and L.M. Marks.
