She was a native of Southampton County and was the daughter of the late William P. and Ella Pope Gillette Sr. Survivors include one sister, Miss Mary Ella Gillette of Capron; nieces and nephews. Miss Gillette was a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, and started her teaching career in Mississippi, retiring after forty years at Maury High School in Norfolk. She was a member of Capron United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. by Rev. R.E. Murphy. Burial in Capron Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home in charge of arrangement.
