LUCY OLIVIA GILLETTE Mrs. Lucy Olivia Gillette was born January 3rd, 1854, and died July 2nd 1919. She was the only daughter of Eldridge Chastine Magett and Louise Kindred Magett. Reared in a refined and Christian home, she in early life began to develop those virtues which so beautifullly adorned her Christian character in maturer years. Gentle and unassuming in disposition, with a heart full of affection, sympathy and love, with a kind word for every one, she won the love and esteem of all who knew her. In her girlhood she joined the church at Applewhite's and continued a consistent and faithful member until her death. She was happily married to James Ezra Gillette, who preceded her to the grave several years ago. To them were born the following children, who survive her; Mrs. J. Ashby Turner near Sebrell, Va., Mrs. W.H. Williams, Danville, Va., James Eldridge* Gillette, business manager of Belle Mead Farm Colony, Belle Mead, N.J., who is purchasing agent of the same, and also of the River Crest Sanitarium at Astoria, New York City; John Kindred Gillette, a prominent attorney at law in the City of New York, and George W. Gillette, South Hill, Va. Twelve grandchildren survived her, also one brother Ezra C. Magett, a prominent and successful merchant of Victoria, Va. On July 3rd she was buried in the family cemetery, where are deposited the earthly remains of her much lamented husband, father, mother and one brother. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The active pallbearers were J.L. Cobb, Ezra W. Davis, Jesse D. Vick, Milton Faison, B.F. Applewhite and Pomroy Little.
