All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ VIRGINIA MAE* COOPER GILLETTE Mrs. Mae Cooper Gillette, 46, wife of Joseph Lewis Gillette of Franklin, died Friday morning, January 30, in Raiford Memorial Hospital after an illness of many months. Mrs. Gillette was the daughter of Mrs. Virginia Daughtrey Cooper of Franklin and the late William F. Cooper. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother; one daughter, Mrs. A.W. Hatch; one son, Norman R. Gillette; and a sister, Mrs. L.E. Bassett, all of Franklin. Funeral services for Mrs. Gillette were conducted at the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by her pastor, Rev. R.M. Kimball. A quintette composed of Mrs. L.B. Norfleet, Mrs. W.B. Hasting, Mrs. J.A. Nichols, Robert A. Vaughan, and Dr. Darden W. Jones, sang "Abide With Me" and "It Is Well With My Soul," accompanied by Mrs. N.T. Barron on the organ. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the active pallbearers being Sam Jones, Jimmie Lee, Hubert Bridges, Gordon Bridges, Sheppard Johnson, Graham Atkins, Cecil Gillette and Gilbert Stephenson.
