All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MYRTIE THERESA PIERCE GILLETTE Mrs. Myrtie Theresa Pierce Gillette, 65, well-known resident of the Capron community, died early Sunday morning, March 4, at Raiford Memorial Hospital after an illness of many months. Mrs. Gillette was the widow of William Percy Gillette, Jr., of Capron, who preceded her in death about six months ago. She was the daughter of the late Alfred King and Mrs. Sadie Cooper Pierce of Nansemond County. She had made her home in Capron since early childhood and was an active member of the Capron Methodist Church and its Woman’s Society of Christian Service. Surviving her are three sons, William Benjamin Gillette and Alfred Percy Gillette of Capron and Cooper Pope Gillette of Franklin; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Avery David Fary of West Point and Mrs. Shelly Lynn Doles of Ivor; four brothers, Horace Pierce and Roscoe Pierce of Suffolk, Vernon Pierce of Emporia and McCoy Pierce of Capron, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Capron Methodist Church by Rev. David Willis, Rev. J.G. Cassell and Rev. R.H. Marks. Interment was in Capron cemetery. Active pallbearers were Robert Edward Gillette, Lynn Doyle, Ralph Pierce, Horace Pierce, Jr., John Burton Gillette, James T. Gillette, Jr., William Lloyd Cooper and Turnbull Gillette.
