EDNA McCLENNY GUNN 

   BURDETTE - A funeral service for Mrs. Edna McClenny Gunn was conducted 
at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. E.C. 
Thornton Jr.  Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park, Franklin.

   Pallbearers were Louis King, Paul Outland, Marvin Gunn, Otis Gunn, Edwin 
Gunn, Lloyd Shaffer Jr., Fenton Watt and Earl Warren Jr.

   Mrs. Gunn, 43, died in Petersburg General Hospital Friday following a 
brief illness.  A native of Nansemond County she lived most of her life in 
Southampton County before moving to Petersburg 1 year ago.  She was the wife 
of [Charlie] L. Gunn and the daughter of the late Frank* and Annie Estelle 
McClenny.

   Surviving besides her husband is one son, Charlie L. Gunn Jr. of 
Petersburg; eight brothers, William Fowler Jr. Suffolk; Charles Fowler, 
Disputana; Claude E. Fowler, Windsor; Oscar McClenny, Courtland; Rochelle 
Fowler, Franklin; David Fowler, Sedley; Daniel Lee Fowler, Sedley; Willie 
Carol Fowler, Florida; three sisters, Mrs. Della Gunn, Petersburg; Mrs. Viola 
Johnson, Suffolk; Miss Barbara Ann Fowler of Florida.

formerly of Southampton Co., 
Nansemond Co. native, d.  14 Nov 1969, Petersburg, age 43,

Her Death Certificate (#69-32478) also gives Edna, daughter of Frank and 
   Annie Estelle McClenney.  [D.Cert. usually agrees with obit.] 

Her marriage license gives Edna Mae, daughter of George and Annie McClenney.

She appears in the 1930 Census as Edna L., the granddaughter of Frank & Gertie 
   McClenny. (Holy Neck {ed#7}, Nansemond Co., VA - sheet 8A, dwl #144) 

She appears in the 1940 Census as Edna L. Fowler, daughter of William J. & 
   Annie E. Fowler. 
   (Unity-Black Creek Rd., Jerusalem Dist. {#88-20}, Southampton Co., VA - 
    sheet 9A, dwl #135) 

Annie, daughter of Frank R. & Gertie L. (Harrell) McClenny, 
   married William J. FOWLER (his 2d), but d. 9 Sep 1941, Franklin, 
   and was buried in Buckhorn. (VA D.Cert. #25235 {Franklin #88}) 

Frank was buried (apparently unmarked) with his son F. Hurley McCLENNY and 
   his parents in a COPELAND family cemetery in Nansemond Co.; 
   this may also be where Annie is buried.

Gertie (2m. GUNN**) is buried with their son Fate Joseph McCLENNY in 
   Devotion I, Plot 35.
