Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. E.C. Thornton Jr. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park, Franklin. Pallbearers were Louis King, Paul Outland, Marvin Gunn, Otis Gunn, Edwin Gunn, Lloyd Shaffer Jr., Fenton Watt and Earl Warren Jr. Mrs. Gunn, 43, died in Petersburg General Hospital Friday following a brief illness. A native of Nansemond County she lived most of her life in Southampton County before moving to Petersburg 1 year ago. She was the wife of [Charlie] L. Gunn and the daughter of the late Frank and Annie Estelle McClenny [sic*]. Surviving besides her husband is one son, Charlie L. Gunn Jr. of Petersburg; eight brothers, William Fowler Jr. Suffolk; Charles Fowler, Disputana; Claude E. Fowler, Windsor; Oscar McClenny, Courtland; Rochelle Fowler, Franklin; David Fowler, Sedley; Daniel Lee Fowler, Sedley; Willie Carol Fowler, Florida; three sisters, Mrs. Della Gunn, Petersburg; Mrs. Viola Johnson, Suffolk; Miss Barbara Ann Fowler of Florida. FOWLER 24 Oct 1931 in Suffolk. She d. 9 Sep 1941, Franklin, and was buried in Buckhorn. (D.Cert. 25235 {Franklin #88}) Frank was buried (apparently unmarked) with his son F. Hurley McCLENNY and his parents in a COPELAND family cemetery in Nansemond Co.; this is likey where Annie is buried. Nansemond Co.
