Gray of this town died suddenly in his store in Main Street Tuesday afternoon, September 9, at about 5:30 o'clock. He was in his 38th year, was a successful merchant, an upright business man and had been in the grocery business here for a number of years. He is survived by his widow and six children, four girls and two boys, besides a brother living in Richmond. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in Poplar Spring cemetery by Dr. C.H. Rowland of the Franklin Christian Church, pastor of the deceased. The active pallbearers were W.H. Jones, G.T. Stephenson, W.A. Daughtrey, E.C. Beale, Harry Steinhardt, I.E. Howell, J.R. Councill and J.R. McLane; honorary, Uriah Rawls, C.H. Stakes, J.A. O'berry, G.C. Hand and J.L. Harcum.
