Purviance’s residence in Boykins following an illness of several months. She was the youngest child of John and Margaret Allen Gray and was born in Detroit, Mich. She was 65 years of age and had made her home with Mrs. Belle Purviance for the last 27 years. She and Mrs. Purviance moved to Boykins several years ago from Huntington, Indiana. At Huntington she had been supervisor of art in the seven graded school and the high school of that city. She taught there 30 years. She was elected honorary member of Indiana State Artists Association. Her parents and all her sisters and brothers preceded her in death. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews residing in Detroit and in California. She was a member of the Boykins Methodist Church and the Epworth Bible Class of that church. Funeral services were held in the Purviance Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock with her pastor, Rev. E.B. Loving officiating. He was assisted by Rev. F.B. Handley. The music was furnished by the combined choirs of the town. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Epworth Bible Class of the Methodist Church. The active pallbearers were: Earl W. Bryant, J.M. Britt, J.C. Blowe, C.T. Beaton, W.E. Spencer, J.M. Hill, C.M. Edwards and Wallace W. White, Jr. Interment was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
