Gray, a resident of Suffolk and formerly of Boykins, took his own life Wednesday morning at the home of his mother, Mrs. Helen Gray, in Boykins, by shooting himself through the head. Mr. Gray had been for a number of years a traveling salesman through this territory for Morris and Company and numbered many friends in Franklin and the county. No cause can be assigned for his act except that of continued ill-health bringing about a moment of temporary aberration in a period of despondency. He had been successful in business and was highly esteemed by his employers and all others who knew him. Besides his mother, his wife, Mrs. Bertha Copeland Gray, and a child, Amos L. Gray, Jr., of Suffolk, he is survived by two brothers, Maurice Gray of Boykins and W.E. Gray of Columbia, S.C., and three sisters, Mrs. Wallace Nurney, Mrs. Henry Nurney and Mrs. Ernest Rock of Boykins and the community. Funeral services were held in Boykins yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock and interment was made in Beechwood Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** IN MEMORIAM In sad and loving memory of our darling one, Amos L. Gray, who died April 11, 1928, eight long months ago today. A living one from us is gone, A voice we loved is still; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. We have only your memory, To remember our whole life through, But the sweetness will linger forever, As we treasure the image of you. Mother, brothers and sisters.
