A retired farmer, he was lifelong resident of the Boykins area. He was a son of Richard A. and Mrs. Nannie Johnson Gray. He was a member of Boykins Baptist Church and its board of deacons. He was also a member of Boykins Lodge 287, AF&AM. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. William J. Smith and Mrs. Charlie W. Fuller of Boykins. The body was taken from Purviance Funeral Home and Boykins Baptist Church, where a funeral service was held yesterday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Ben D. Ussery, pastor. The body was in the church one hour before the service. A Masonic service was conducted at the grave. Pallbearers were Roy A. Lassiter, Tom Davis, W.R. Emmons, J.C. Blowe, C.W. Smith, Elmo Rock, W. Hugh Powell, and R.S. Edwards. All are member of the Board of Deacons of the Boykins Baptist Church.
