All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HATTIE BLANCHE DRAKE GRAY NEWSOMS - Mrs. Hattie Drake Gray, 70, died Tuesday night at 9 o’clock at the home of her son, Ashby B. Gray, following a long illness. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, she was the widow of Willie Richard Gray and the daughter of Charlie H. and Mrs. Addie Hill Drake. She was a member of Barnes Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Edward C. Gray, Elvin T. Gray and Ashby B. Gray, all of Newsoms; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Barnes, also of Newsoms; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Barnes Methodist church by the pastor, the Rev. H. Warren Landis. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
