H. Warren Landis, pastor. Burial will be in Barnes Church Cemetery. The body will be taken from the Purviance Funeral Home to the church one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Gray, 70, died Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at the home of her son, Ashby B. Gray, near Newsoms, after a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of Southampton County, a daughter of Charlie H. and Mrs. Addie Hill Drake. She was the widow of Willie Richard Gray. Besides her son, Ashby, surviving are two other sons, Edward C. Gray and Elvin T. Gray, both of Newsoms; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Barnes of Newsoms, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. ****************************************************************************** HATTIE BLANCHE DRAKE GRAY NEWSOMS - Mrs. Hattie Drake Gray, 70, died Tuesday night at 9 o’clock at the home of her son, Ashby B. Gray, following a long illness. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, she was the widow of Willie Richard Gray and the daughter of Charlie H. and Mrs. Addie Hill Drake. She was a member of Barnes Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Edward C. Gray, Elvin T. Gray and Ashby B. Gray, all of Newsoms; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Barnes, also of Newsoms; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Barnes Methodist church by the pastor, the Rev. H. Warren Landis. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
