Gray in Newsoms Sunday morning, May 26, after an illness of several months. Besides his parents he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Smith of Franklin, Mrs. Newbern Ellis of Portsmouth and Mrs. Jack Smith of Boykins. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon in the Purviance funeral home in Boykins at 3:30 o’clock by Rev. F.L. Baker, pastor of Newsoms M.E. Church, assisted by Rev. C.P. Cleveland of Newsoms Baptist Church and Rev. F.B. Handley of Boykins Baptist Church. Mrs. H.M. Purviance, Mrs. A.M. Williams and Mrs. E.R. Bryant sang "Safe In the Arms of Jesus" and "The Home Over There." Burial took place in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. Active pallbearers were Orin Spain, Milton Worrell, Mike King, J.W. Drake and Felton Bryant.
