MINNIE LEE TAYLOR GRAY

   Mrs. Minnie Taylor Gray, 75, died Monday, April 15, at 4 a.m. at the home 
of her daughter, Mrs. Jack Smith, in Boykins.

   She was the widow of Charles Edward Gray and a daughter of the late Henry 
and Mrs. Sallie Smith Taylor.

   Mrs. Gray was a native of Northampton County, N.C., but had lived most of 
her life in Southampton County and was a member of Barnes Methodist Church.

   In addition to Mrs. Smith, she is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. 
Arthur Smith of Franklin and Mrs. Neuben Ellis of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. 
Willis Pope of Boykins and Mrs. Josie Lee of Ahoskie, N.C.; ten grandchildren, 
ten great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Purviance 
Funeral Home by Rev. Ben B. Ussery, pastor of the Boykins Baptist Church, 
assisted by Rev. Joe Frence, pastor of Hunterdale Christian Church.  Burial 
was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.

   Active pallbearers were Dr. J.J. Grizzard, Curry W. Smith, Leroy Griffin, 
Jack Griffin, Bynum Hill, Eldridge Felts, Joseph Washington and Archie Lee. 
Friends of the family served as honorary pallbearers.
