Griffith and the daughter of the late William Burgess and Ella Hedgepeth Raiford of Southampton County died Tuesday afternoon in a Durham Hospital after an illness of several months. She was a native of Southampton County, and for the past sixteen years had been teaching in Trinity High School in Trinity, N.C. A graduate of Guildford College in class of 1921. A lifelong member of the Corinth Meeting of Southampton County, and a member of the North Carolina Teachers Association. Surviving are: one sister, Mrs. C.K. Strowd, Chapel Hill, N.C., two brothers, Herman Raiford, Durham, N.C., and Algie Raiford, one step-son, Lewis W. Griffith, Suffolk. Two nephews, and one niece. The body was taken to W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in Franklin, and Friday morning will be taken to the home near Ivor. Funeral services will be at Corinth Meeting House Friday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. James A. Coney. Burial will be made in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. Okie Irene (RAIFORD; Mrs. Lewis W.)
