All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CHARLES WALTER GRIFFIN Charles Walter Griffin died at his home near Clarksbury Church, this county, Saturday afternoon following a lingering illness. Mr. Griffin was born April 2, 1894, and is the son of Jesse Griffin and the late Mrs. Lola Johnson Griffin of Southampton County. Besides his father, he is survived by his wife and three children, Herbert, Esther and Catherine; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Dunlow of Boykins; a brother J.R. Griffin Capron; two half-sisters, Mrs. Carrie Baugham and Miss Mary Griffin and one half-brother; Algie Griffin, of Boykins. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Beechwood Cemetery with Rev. F.B. Handley officiating, assisted by Rev. R.L. Haga. Active pallbearers were Dr. J.M. Bland, S.P. Johnson, A. Sidney Francis, J.S. Musgrave, R.E. Ricks, W.L. Worrell and W.H. Barnes. The choirs of the Boykins churches sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and "Rock of Ages."
