Griffin, 71, of 307 S. Main St. was held Thursday at 3 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Chapel by the Rev. James Luck. Burial was in Sycamore Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Hunter Darden, Russell Cotton, Leon Darden, Cecil Vaughan, Sam Hassett and Wilson Story. A native of Southampton County, she was the widow of John Griffin Sr. She was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Annie Brock, Mrs. Gladys Blythe, Mrs. Virgie Coggsdale, and Mrs. Mary Duck of Franklin; three brothers, Jessie [phrase "Coggsdale and John Waverly" omitted] Coggsdale of Handsom, and James Coggsdale of Suffolk; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
