HATTIE BEALE GRIFFIN

   Mrs. Hattie Beale Griffin died December 27th at her home near Sedley after 
a brief illness and was buried the following day at the family burying ground 
at the Isaac Jones’ place, George’s Bend, Nansemond County*.  She was a 
conscientious member of Bethany Christian Church, and the funeral services 
were conducted by her pastor, Rev. C.H. Rowland.  The deceased was in her 
twenty-first year, and is survived by her widowed husband, Mr. Livy Griffin, 
and an infant, her parents Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Beale, one sister and two 
brothers.  Her bereaved loved ones and friends have the sympathy of everyone 
in their hour of sorrow.

Additional information: 

Hattie's father (1864-1924) was born 7 Nov- 9 months after his parent's 
   married 9 Feb- and after his father's death 12 May at the Battle of 
   Spotsylvania C.H.; widow Harriet M. (DAVIDSON) (1840-1918) remarried 
   in 1869 to Confederate veteran Isaac JONES (1837-1910). 

Hattie died a week after the birth of her daughter Katherine Virginia, 
   who d. 3 Jun 1913.  An abstract of the death certificate for "Carthan
