JOHN H. GRIFFIN

   John H. Griffin, 71, well known citizen of Southampton County, died Friday 
night, September 3, at his residence near Franklin after being in ill health 
for over six years.

   Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Jane Griffin, of Franklin; 
one daughter, Mrs. R.R. Lankford of Franklin; two sons, John Emmett Griffin of 
Norfolk, and Randolph W. Griffin in Franklin.

   Funeral services were conducted from the home Sunday afternoon, September 5, 
at 4 o’clock by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson. Interment was made in the family 
cemetery.
