JOE GRIFFIN

   FRANKLIN - A funeral service for Joe Griffin, 72*, was held at 3 p.m. 
Saturday in Wright Funeral Home by the Revs. Howard Vinson Jr. and Richard 
Dickmann.  Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery.

   Griffin died Thursday in a hospital.

   A native of Southampton County, he had retired as foreman of the Franklin 
Public Works Department after 28 years.  He was a member of Franklin 
Congregational Christian Church.

   Survivors include his wife, Sallie Ricks Griffin, and a brother, James L. 
Griffin of Franklin.
