JESSE WALTER GRIFFIN

   Jesse Walter Griffin, 80, a resident of Boykins, died at his home there on 
Thursday morning, December 11, at 6:30 o'clock.

   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Francis Griffin of Boykins; three 
daughters, Mrs. F.O. Smith and Mrs. Robert Baugham of Boykins, and Mrs. R.L. 
Dunlow of Franklin; two sons, Joe T. and Algie Griffin, both of Boykins; 14 
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. L.D. Suyes of 
Boykins; and one brother, John Griffin of Franklin.  He was a member of Hebron 
Baptist Church.

   Funeral services were held at the graveside in Beechwood Cemetery on Friday 
afternoon at 3 o'clock, with Revs. N.B. Habel and M.W. Anderson officiating. 
The choir sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye."  The casket was covered with a pall 
of lavender and white chrysanthemums, carnations and gladioli.

   Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family.  The active pallbearers 
were Dr. J.M. Bland, Raleigh Drake, T.D. Gardner, L.R. Magee, W.H. Powell, 
Jr., Henry Ricks, Jr., and H.P. Taylor.
