Griffin, died suddenly Monday August 27, at 5 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L.P. Williams, near Courtland. She was a native of Hertford, N.C. but her married life was spent near Newsoms. Since the death of her husband she had made her home with her children, all of whom survive her. They are: Mrs. P.B. Edwards of Boykins, J.C. Griffin of Holland, W.B. and H.F. Griffin of Capron, Mrs. L.P. Williams of Courtland and Mrs. J.B. Johnson of Capron. She was a consecrated Christian woman, a faithful member of Capron Baptist Church, a kind and loving mother, a true and sympathetic friend. Truly may it be said of her, "She hath done what she could." Funeral series were conducted from the Williams’ home by Rev. C.H. Fielding and she was laid to rest in the Newsoms Cemetery. The body bearers were: Everett Griffin, Percy Edwards, Jim Edwards, Ray Williams, Clyde Williams, Fletcher Crichton, Junius Cox and Willie Worrell. Lydia Jane (FERGUSON; Mrs. Benjamin R.)
