POWELL GRIZZARD Mrs. Addie Grizzard, widow of Cader P. Grizzard, died Sunday, December 18, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.D. Lewis, in Adams Grove after a long illness. She was born in Southampton County on September 22, 1876, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Powell. She married Mr. Grizzard in December, 1889.* In addition to her daughter, she is survived by one son, Gordon Grizzard of Adams Grove; one sister, Mrs. R.G. Harris of Portsmouth; one brother, Q.B. Powell of Adams Grove; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. William Stennett, pastor of Adams Grove Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. R. Stuart Grizzard, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Norfolk. Mrs. Charles C. Bryant and daughter, Miss Peggy Bryant sang "It's So Sweet to Trust in Jesus." Interment was in the Drewryville Cemetery. Active pallbearers were George Turner, Thomas Harrell, Arthur Mattox, S.E. Edwards, P.C. Joyner and Arthur Avent. Friends of the family served as honorary pallbearers. Addie B. (POWELL; Mrs. Cader P.)
