Grizzard, former Sheriff of Southampton County, were held at the graveside in Courtland Cemetery at two o'clock Friday afternoon, with Rev. Otis L. Gilliam officiating. Mr. Grizzard died in New York City on Tuesday, January 24, after a brief illness. He is survived by three brothers, John Lee Grizzard of Charlotte, N.C., Joseph Franklin Grizzard of Langley Field, and David T. Grizzard of Norfolk; his stepmother, Mrs. Fannie Bell Grizzard of Courtland; and by several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers at the funeral on Friday were W. Booker Smith, P.T. Person, Raymond Vick, William A. Bell, Burton McLemore and Raymond Etheridge.
