GRIZZARD OF DREWRYVILLE DEAD Dr. James A. Grizzard, prominent Southampton County physician, died Tuesday in 1:30 a.m. in Raiford Memorial Hospital. A graduate of Randolph-Macon Academy and the University of Maryland Medical School, he was president of the Southampton County Bank at Courtland. Dr. Grizzard, a 32nd degree Mason, was a member of the Drewryville Methodist Church, the Drewryville Ruritan Club, the Emporia Masonic Lodge, the Norfolk Khedive Shrine Temple, the American Medical Association. He was former president of the Southside Virginia Medical Association. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Marion Barham Grizzard, a daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. W.B. Barham of Newsoms, he is survived by two sons, James A. Grizzard, Jr., of Drewryville, and W. Berkley Grizzard of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. William P. Hughes of Drewryville; three sisters, Mrs. S.Y. Harding, Mrs. R.W. Little and Miss Katherine T. Grizzard of Emporia, and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Drewryville Methodist Church with the Rev. L.D. Stables officiating. Burial was made in the Drewryville Cemetery.
