MARIAN BERKLEY BARHAM GRIZZARD

   DREWRYVILLE - Mrs. Marion Barham Grizzard died Thursday afternoon in a 
Richmond hospital after a short illness.

   She was the widow of Dr. James A. Grizzard and the daughter of the late 
Dr. William B. and Fanny Berkley Barham.  She was a native of Newsoms, but 
had lived here for the past 50 years.

   She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. William P. Hughes of Norfolk; two 
sons, James A. Grizzard, Jr., of Emporia and W. Berkley Grizzard of Roanoke 
Rapids, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. James M. Smith of Big Stone Gap and six 
grandchildren.

   A funeral service was conducted Saturday at Drewryville Methodist Church 
by the Rev. J.S. Peebles, pastor, assisted by the Rev. L.O. Wright and the 
Rev. Leroy Brown.  Burial was in the Drewryville Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Dr. J.J. Grizzard, J.T. Claud, Robert Claud, Sam E. Pope, 
F.E. Pope, Amos Pope, Jessie Leigh, William Leigh, Peter Thomas, Owen Johnson, 
S.P. Johnson and Fred Fisher.
