GRIZZARD Funeral services for Olie Lee Grizzard, 60, prominent farmer of the Capron community were conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Joyner Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. David Willis. Mr. Grizzard, husband of Mrs. Sarah Hall Grizzard, died at his home Thursday night, December 13, after an illness of many months. The son of the late William David and Effie Moyler Judkins Grizzard, he was a native of Sussex County but moved to Southampton County in his early childhood. He was a member of Joyner Methodist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lois G. Crafton of Richmond, Mrs. Louise G. Martinez of Emporia, and Mrs. Ruth G. Zimmerman of Yale; three sons, Robert O. Grizzard, Burton E. Grizzard, and George Applewhite Grizzard, all of Capron; five grandchildren; two brothers, J.C. Grizzard and T.D. Grizzard, both of Emporia; five sisters, Mrs. Virgie E. Starke of Norfolk, Mrs. Lula G. Dunn of Yale, Mrs. Grace G. Avent of Capron, Mrs. Fannie G. Barnes of Portsmouth, and Mrs. Effie G. O'Berry of Jarratt; and a number of nieces and nephews. Burial was in the family cemetery near Capron, and the active pallbearers were Joe Ezell, Dr. J.J. Grizzard, Elmer Weaver, Wilroy Grizzard, John T. Wade, Nelson Harrell, Bill Blose and John T. Claud.
