All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JESSE DEMPSEY GARDNER Jesse Dempsey Gardner, well-known farmer of the Franklin community, died in Lakeview Hospital, Suffolk, last Friday afternoon after an illness of a few weeks. He was in his 76th year and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie Turner Gardner and a son, J.D. Gardner, Jr. and two daughters by his first marriage, Mrs. H.L. Vaughan and W. Emmett Cobb of Franklin; by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Gardner was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and funeral services were conducted by his former Pastor, Rev. Gordon L. Price of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Saturday afternoon, burial following in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were: W.T. Pace, Cecil Vaughan, 3rd, J.F. Bryant, Jr., Geo. H. Parker, Tyler Edwards, Hunter Darden, J.R. Vaughan and J.A. Johnson.
