Gardner, 56, a lifelong resident of Franklin, died at his home on Edwards Street here Tuesday night following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Gardner was the son of George A. Gardner and the late Mary M. Gardner. He was a faithful member of Franklin Baptist Church and a member of the Bruner Bible Class of the Church. In addition to his father, the deceased is survived by two sisters, Mrs. D.C. Cotton and Mrs. J.P. Cobb of Franklin; a brother, C.W. Gardner of Murfreesboro, and a half-brother, George A. Gardner, Jr. of Norfolk. Services were held from the home Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock, conducted by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, pastor of the deceased. The songs "Precious Name" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" were sung by Mrs. H.G. Cobb, Mrs. R.J. Howell, Mrs. F.E. Howell, Miss Lizzie Mae Cutchin, Percy Bunch and E.K. Brinkley, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Henry Duck. Interment took place at Poplar Spring Cemetery, where there was a committal service at the grave. Pallbearers were Joseph Fowler, George Lea, Steve Malik, Jack G. Holland, W.F. Keeter, Dr. A.P. Cutchin, G.C. Duck and Jimmy Daughtrey. James H.
