Gardner, son of Arrington and Margarett Barrett Gardner died at his home near Sedley, October 25, 1929, in his seventy-sixth year after a short illness. In 1893 he was married to Miss Sallie Jenkins who preceded him to the grave one and one-half year ago. Their home was a Christian and gracious one, they were genial, frank and faithful to friends and few homes were frequented more. He was a useful and industrious citizen in his community and was a member of Grace Memorial M.E. Church and was always willing to contribute of his time and means to the advancement of his Master’s work. He is survived by two brothers, G.D. and W.T. Gardner*, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services conducted by his Pastor, Rev. S.E. Jones, were held from Grace Memorial Church on Sunday afternoon and was largely attended. The hymns, "Rock of Ages," "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and "Nearer by God to Thee," were sung. Interment was made in Rosemont Cemetery. There were many floral tributes. Among relatives her to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. B. Lamb, Mrs. J.T. Joyner of Portsmouth, T.D. Gardner of Emporia, Mrs. W.T. Branche and family of Ivor. John A.
