Mrs. Gordon, a native of Isle of Wight County, was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, she was retired from Rodman’s Barbecue Restaurant after 30 years of service. She was a member of Driver Chapter 149 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband, C. Ray Gordon; a daughter, Ellen Wells Seymoure of Chesapeake; two sons, Clyde M. Wells and Daniel L. Wells, both of Smithfield; four sisters, Eleanor J. Shea of Virginia Beach, Margaret J. Wells of Ivor, Minnie J. Billups of Zuni and Mildred J. Wilcox of Cocoa Fla.; a brother, J. Tom Joyner of Windsor; eight grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Friday in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church by the Rev. J. Waverly Horne. Burial was in the church cemetery. Wright Funeral Home handled the arrangements. He is buried in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Russell Co., AL. She 4m. Carroll Ray GORDON (b. 18 Feb 1935 Buncombe Co., NC) 27 Feb 1957 in Elizabeth City, Pasquotank Co., NC. Her baby sister Margaret (twin of Mildred, b. 2 Apr 1930) 1m. Mayo B. WELLS, Sr. (5 Mar 1922 - 18 Aug 1986) 13 Oct 1945, claiming she was 18. Mayo is also buried in Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. Widowed, Margaret 2m. Louise's widower 31 Dec 1987.
