Ira D. Hudgins. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery with W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Wesley Gayle, Charles Gayle, E.B. Gayle, Talmadge Gayle, Milton Dailey, Dan Dailey and James Edward Bristow. Mrs. Gardner, 61, died Friday morning. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, she was the daughter of W.L. and Mrs. Effie Cobb Joyner and the widow of Albutt L. Gardner. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Norman L. Gardner of Holland, the Rev. A.L. Gardner, Jr. of Millford, Del., and Warren J. Gardner of Lawrenceville; two daughters, Mrs. Jane G. Corbett of Norfolk and Mrs. Ruby G. Story of Franklin; six brothers, Thomas Joyner of Newport News, Harrison L. Joyner of Balitmore, S.L. Joyner, Ernest Joyner and Alonza Joyner of Franklin, and Amos Joyner of Richmond; six sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Raiford, Mrs. Iona Gayle of Franklin, Mrs. Addie Bristow and Mrs. Hattie Dailey of Suffolk, Mrs. Mary Raiford of Newsoms, and Mrs. Mae Bonadita* of Norfolk; and 19 grandchildren.
