James A. Coney and the Rev. Herman Smith. W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home was in charge. Pallbearers were J.R. Taylor, R.G. Edwards, John Elbert Fox, Fletcher Crichton, Graham Pulley, W.R. Butler Sr., Rainey Hundley and Sheriff Ryland Brooks. Gardner, 67, died Thursday in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of George Thomas and Mrs. Sarah Pond Gardner. He was a member of the Friends Meeting of Sedley and Indiantown Hunt Club. He is survived by a sister, Miss Anna S. Gardner of Sedley.
